Hi Guys.

Just got my son an old Ibanez Ex as his first electric guitar.
A silly question perhaps, but how is 'Ibanez' pronounced?

Take care.

Did you get it from Guitar Center's used system by any chance? My friend was just trying to buy one of those there and he was told it was reserved.

I say "EYE-bun-ezz".

The word is originally Spanish (it was a Spanish company building guitars for Hoshino, Hoshino bought the name when the Spanish company went bankrupt), so pronounce it as such.

If you want to pronounce it "correctly", as in the spanish way, it's ee BAH nez, if you want to pronounce it like 95% of the rest of the world, it's EYE ba nez.

north polers pronounced it as 'eee ba nez' as spanish has been pronouncing it and also most asians , but as 'Patient_z3ro' has stated the rest 90% population pronounce it 'eye ba nez' which is not the spanish pronounciation, my question iiiiisssss , HOW THE HECK DO YOU KNOW HOW SHOULD IT BE PRONOUNCED BY THAT DUDE ?? COZ I DONT KNOW HOW IRISH PRONOUNCE IT, WELL, DO YA....???? Doh

so lets just let that dude from ireland decide for himself, coz maybe in ireland it is pronounced as 'AIRE BA NEZZ' (no offence dude)...

The name originaly came from the Spanish and was E-ban-ez, but the Ibanez guitar we know today is pronounce EYE-ba-nez. They did that to make it more american sounding so they'd sell more. Good call.
