Installing new pups in an SZ and want to split the coils.
Does anyone know if the push pull pots from Stewmac are
a straight replacement for shaft diameter and shaft length
for the stock pots? Or does anyone have a preference for
another brand?

Thanks

Yes. I replaced the tone control on my SZ with Push/Pull pot from Stewmac. It fit perfectly.

Thanks Rusty. Short shaft or LP shaft length?
Did you do the master switch style (one switch
for both), just one pickup or individual switches
for both pups?

I don't remember but I think it was short shaft.

I wired it to cut the ground out in the center toggle position so both pickups could be on full when the selector is in the center toggle position while still preserving the tapped sound of the stock wiring. My preference was to have the ground out cut with the push/pull in the down position, and connected in the up position. Works for me.

Do you guys know if the tone pot is audio-taper or linear?
I guess audio-taper since that's the only one that Stewmac has?

Are you happy with the sound and function of the Stewmac push/pull pot?

Ibanez uses audio taper pots for tone controls.

Yes, completely.

Another one that I've used and liked a lot was the one from DiMarzio.
