Hi
I dont know where to put this, so I hope it is okey here. I just won a guitar from Ebay. It is a Masaaki vt-470. I find no information on the net about it. Seller said it was japanese from the 60-70. It looks like a Gibson with double cutaway. It has a neck though the body ( hope you understand what I mean).

Very thankful for any help.

It was probably just a Japanese retail, in-house brand. It seems that the term "Masaaki" is a Japanese surname. I haven't come across one of those before, but I've seen my fair share of miscellaneous Japanese branded guitars. I know ESP wasn't around till 75, so it is possible it was from Fuji-Gen which began making guitars in 62' and going OEM in the early 70's.

Some other possible makers are Terada, Kasuga, and Matsumoku, as they were all making Gibson-type guitars roughly in that time frame you provided.

Can you give us some pictures to work with?
Does it have a serial number?
Any other details than body shape?

Also, what does this have to do with RGs?

I found no serial number. I got it today. It fells like a classy guitar. The pickups are kind of warm sounding. Unfortunaly it got a little broken during the shipping, the pickup frame.

You should really inquire to some of the Tokai and Greco forums. They would know a lot more about old Japanese guitars.
