I have an 01 RG 570 with the v7/s1/v8 pickup combo. I like the pickups tone but just want a little more treble from the bridge position. Would mounting the v8 pickup backwards make a difference like some other pickups or am I stuck with this lack of articulation?

Please don't tell me to turn my treble up on my amp. I've been playing over 20 years so I'm not the usual teenager asking dumb questions. I'm a full grown adult asking dumb questions. LOL. Doh

I'd go with one of the following

adjusting the pickup's screw polepieces
mounting a set of 1 meg volume and tone pots
using a different value of capacitator to allow more treble to get through (can't remember if it's a higher value or lower value capacitor that would allow more treble through)

a few interesting thoughts about alternate wiring schemes that alter what kind of voice your guitar gives you

http://www.guitartechcraig.com/techwire/tone.htm

using a varitone pot (like the one BB king uses on his axes) instead of a regular tone pot

a random website that as a metric ton of stuff similar to the other one I posted(this one's a much larger read though)

http://buildyourguitar.com/resources/lemme/

lastly, seeing as mounting your pickup on backwards isn't something that would cost you money I'd also recommend that as well. wouldn't recommend changing them as it sounds like you're that one percent away from getting the voice in your head out so doing a relatively large mod seems like killing a mouse with an air strike. that and doing something like changing pickups is a lot more expensive than looking into a capacitor or vol/tone pot to switch out

Thank you so much for all the info. I took the tone pot out so that variable is gone. I'm so close to the tone I want it's driving me insane.

The very best V8 mod can be done thanks to our own LonePhantom on Jemsite. This is super easy and the results are amazing:

interesting info ... and soundclips to boot as well ... went to the guy's site and lots of info that's nicely laid out. If I didn't like the V's in my seven I might go with what that guy did to adjust things

This is why I keep trying to get you guys to visit Jemsite! We've got tons of great info over there--and even more great members. LonePhanton's site is awesome, and he's also one of our best and most helpful members. He's always experimenting with gear like this. Once I get healed up from my surgery, I'll have my blog going again. In the meantime, you guys can catch up with what's already there...pardon the geekiness side of it:
