Yeah I don't think it's a simple mod at all.

You hafta peel the fretboard off, install the leds and then reglue it on, and thats just to install the leds not the components to power then or switches.
Guitars and amp are:
2000 Schecter C-1 Jerry Horton signature
rg 350
Parts to various other guitars
Marshall MG 15 MSII

You CANNOT do this with strip LED lighting! Not if you want it to look right, anyway.
Here are the steps:
1. remove fretboard
2. drill out the dot inlays
3. redrill the holes to the diameter of the LEDs--I suggest 5mm flat-top LEDs
4. rout a channel about 1/8" deep on one side of the truss rod on the neck for the wiring--I recommend ribbon cable
5. install the LEDs in the fretboard holes
6. wire your resistors to the LEDs
7. solder your anode and cathode sides of the LEDs to your wires
8. run your hooked up wires in the routed channel
9. Make sure the end of the circuit, where your power supply and switch are, is coming out of the body side of the neck and hook it all up and test
10. sand down the tops of the LEDs slightly to conform to the radius of the fretboard
11. glue down your fretboard to neck
12. done!
Just another Ibanez freak!
