BooHoo

Just bought this today.
Have long admired the Artcore series.

AK85-DVS-12-01
S04061131

Looked through the forum, as far back as I could, didn't find much with respect to pricing.

I'll be honest, this is going to a mod guitar for me. Right off the bat, I'm looking to install a Bigsby on this, and maybe upgrade the pups. The Pots seem ok, but will probably do the whole works.

Now for some questions to you experts here.

I've googled and searched, am getting conflicting information with regard to the top, is it spruce, or maple?

Was it made in China, as the label is printed, or in Korea, as the dater suggests?

The neck, mahogany or maple? I know it's 3 piece, just am unsure of what materials.

I play mostly jazz, with d'addario chrome jazz lites flats, 11-54

This will be an all around utility guitar, so would the stock pups be the best, or swap them out for something like gibby paf humbuckers?

Any thoughts or input would be welcomed.

just found this post...I have an AK85 that I'm getting ready to make some upgrades to. What did you end up doing?

I read that the bigsby B6 is the best tremolo. I also read on the TV Jones site that they have an artcore kit to install their pups. classic in the bridge, classic plus in the neck.

did you find out of the top is maple or spruce?

The top on your guitar is laminate spruce.

Some AK's have a laminated maple top, but I agree with fingerboard, your top looks like laminated spruce.

Wow, I'm disappointed to have missed this thread when the OP started it last year. Nobody responded and he hasn't posted since. Hope he comes back.

Peace

Wow! I didn't catch that it was almost a year ago when the OP made his post. I'm sure that he'll be back now that we've replied! Happy
