Hi All,

Newbie here... picked up an older classical, and wondering if anyone can help me out how old this little beauty is. Finish on the front has some crazing and the binding and rosette has shrunk relative to the wood. The rosette has a herringbone pattern.

Any info is helpful.

Cheers,

It is tough to date, but I'd put my money on sometime in the 1960s. Here is the catalog archive for the 1960s:
http://www.ibanez.co.jp/...versary/list.php?era=60

Starting in the 1970s, Ibanez started using a mix of letters and numbers to make their model numbers, so it was likely made in the early 70s or sometime in the 60s. There are a couple closer models listed int he 1960s catalogs that have similar features, like the fretboard inlay pattern and headstock shape/style.

Hope this helps,
-Bill

Bill,

I suspected 60's (lack of serial # suggests pre 75 and the oval rather than square label hinted at older). Nice to know some of these instruments are still around.

Thanks for your help. Cool

Cheers,
