Hello all,

I have an SZ2020FM with Gibraltar custom bridge (http://ibanez.wikia.com/wiki/SZ2020FM). Does anyone know if I can replace the bridge with any other 2-post style unit, like the Gibraltar III maybe?
The gibraltar custom is mounted on a 'sustain block' sunk into the body which I think is unique to this design, so I'm not sure how possible a replacement would be.
The SZ is a great guitar, I just don't love the bridge, would really like to try an alternative if possible.

It may not be possible. If it is, it probably won't be easy.

The way I see it, there are 2 possible ways to go about it.

  1. Somehow use the sustain block that is currently in there to mount a new bridge. The only way I can see this working, is if you find a bridge and new hardware that uses the same thread measurements as the locking posts.

  2. Otherwise, you would need to remove the sustain block altogether, fill in the hole with new wood, and thenredrill new holes to accommodate a different bridge.

Hope this helps,
