Hi Folks,
I have just purchased an EWP15Ltd Piccolo guitar which I am extremely pleased with, by and large, but just wanted to discuss a point.
I bought it largely as a practice guitar as it is small enough to take to work & play in the car at lunchtime.
Consequently one of the things that sold it to me was that it was in standard tuning.
However I have real trouble getting it to stay in tune. And in the end have resorted to tuning it up a whole step.
I've Googled this problem and believe such a short scale length to give inherent tuning problems, and action height can mean that, simply by fretting notes, you're effectively pulling it out of tune.
I'm wondering if the neck would stand going to a higher gauge of strings and maybe flatwound, as that certainly helped the stability of my Epiphone Dot. What gauge do they come with and what could I get away with?
