Good morning, I just bought an awesome aw70ece nt and I love it. I have tried the guitar with a jack cable and it works well but now I have to buy another cable and I was asking to myself if not take an xlr cable because it should be balanced and also my soundcard connected to the pc has xlr balanced inputs. I need also to use a microphone that need to global activate the +48 on the xlr inputs. What happens to my guitar, does it hurt in any way?
Another question: for a 5m (15ft) cable should be difference from jack to xlr? And for a 10 cable?
Thanks a lot
Alessandro

The powered XLR should not be a problem.

As for the length of the cable, from 5m to 10m it shouldn't make any kind of difference. I'd expect the same performance since the XLR is carrying a balanced signal. If you were using an unbalanced 1/4" cable, I'd say that 10m is probably the limit of how long you want to run it. Even at that length, an unbalanced 1/4" cable will probably start to introduce some noise in the signal.

Hope this helps,
-Bill

Thanks for your reply Bill.

I have another question. Is the jack 6.35 output balanced? And if yes which type of cable I should use? Does a stereo cable works?

Thanks a lot
Alessandro

The 6.35mm (1/4") jack is not balanced and you should use a mono cable.
