Hi Guys,

First post here, but I've been an Ibanez user for many years!

Received my new MSM-1 Marco Sfogli Signature about two days ago and after spending some time setting it up, I'm overall pretty happy with it.

However, the Wenge fretboard (and back of the neck for that matter) has some anomalies due to the heavy grain of the timber. You can see in the attached photos, the edges of the fretboard are quite rough. I'm honestly not sure whether this has been left that way for "character" or if it's not meant to be that way. Obviously the guitar passed QA, so I'm guessing it's character. I'ts not really affecting the playability that I've really noticed, but just not sure if it's right and I should be taking it back under warranty. None of the other photos of these models that I've seen online seem to have this issue (hard to tell though...)

Any thought/comments?

Definitely a legitimate question. After taking a look at the photos myself, it did seem a bit excessive at those angles.

After checking with the guitar guys, it seems this is actually normal characteristic of the wenge fretboard. It shouldn't affect playability much, if at all.

Glad you're enjoying it do far!

Thanks very much for the quick reply, Bill.
Certainly sets my mind at ease and I can get back to just enjoying playing this fine instrument! Cheers.
