Hello,
I'm a happy owner of an Ibanez RG721rw and I recently stained black its rosewood veneer.
VIDEO: Staining black an Ibanez RG721rw
The video above is a tutorial explaining the process.
The surprise came when I realised that there was not a sign of a rosewood top on the body.
In the video, that can be seen in the hole where the neck tail is placed.
There is no seam between the rosewood top and the basswood body.

I wonder if there is an explanation for this.
Otherwise, this is a fraud that should be denounced.

This guitar indeed uses a veneer of rosewood over the basswood body. It isn't a "print" or something like a computer generated image of rosewood. Rather it is a thin top piece of actual rosewood.

It is also difficult to see, but in some of the shots from that video, you don't see much of the binding or purfling in the neck pocket either. It seems they probably used some wood to fill the extra space in the neck pocket which covers the rosewood top and purfling/binding.

I do personally prefer the look of a "cap" instead of "top", especially when you can see the seam through the side like this:

Hope this helps!

If you look at the hole of the ground wire of the bridge you will see white wood as well.
Furthermore, it can be seen in the pot holes. The top must be a hair width.
Fortunately, I did not sand enough to make a hole in it.
