Hello, I'm new to this forum.
I have a question in regards to an Ibanez SR405 5 string bass.
The bass was manufactured in Korea between 1980 based on the Serial number "C8083862"
In the control cavity there is a trapezoid looking EQ pc board with mini pots on it.
The part number is 3EQ1EQB33 a.k.a EQ B3 / EQB III.
The Ibanez parts website shows that to be a discontinued item.
The pot dimensions are 16mm body,Threaded shaft diameter: 9mm or 5/16" x 14mm length, Metal shaft diameter: 6mm x 7mm length, through hole Lugs or tines are about 7.7mm long and pointing upward in the same direction as the shaft.
Does anyone know where I can buy the replacement Treble, Mid and Bass pots for this EQ board?
Many thanks for your help in advance!

That is a tough one! I'd say that the serial number actually points to a build date of 1998, since this bass didn't exist back in 1980.

Those pots are likely B50K with a center detent. You may be able to find replacement pots through an electronics supplier, like Mouser.com. However, they may be difficult to find the exact ones you need.

It may be easier to replace the whole preamp with a new aftermarket one.
Hope this helps,

Bill,
Thanks for your help. That's a good start! Can you recommend an aftermarket preamp similar to the "3EQ1EQB33" or one that will fit it the Bass' cavity?

Because most modern preamps are smaller boards with pots plugged in, most all modern preamps will fit in that cavity.

This one here is a 2 band EQ with 5 knobs:
Neck Volume
Bridge Volume
Tone
Bass
Treble

For something closer to what you originally had, this Ibanez preamp would do the job. Part #: 3EQ2SC0003
1 Volume
1 Tone
Bass
Mid
Treble

Hope this helps!

Bill, Thank you so much for your suggestions.
I will have a look at 3EQ2SC0003 and I'll also keep looking for that elusive potentiometer.

I just learned how to open a potentiometer, This is the Treble pot from the EQB3 preamp in my SR405 Bass. There are cracks in the disc which was preventing the pot from working correctly.
