Hello all,

I know there's a sticky about cavities and trems, but it got me all confused, so I hope it's OK I post this question:

I have an RG570 from 1990 that I've played so much it needs new frets and a new tremolo. My question is, is it possible to fit one of the newer Edge trems into this old workhorse?

Any input appreciated!

Cheers,
Örjan

After checking out the Catalog pages from 1990, it looks like the RG570 from 1990 should have the Original EDGE system in it:
http://www.ibanez.com/an...php?cat_id=185&now=9

Using this info, we can look at that "Trem Cavity List" to see what other users have reported compatible:

Quote:
on IBANEZ EDGE/LoPro EDGE cavity:

• Original Floyd Rose into Ibanez Edge/LoPro Edge cavity: YES

• Ibanez Edge-Pro into Ibanez Edge/LoPro Edge cavity: YES

I would recommend sticking with the original EDGE, not only because people like that bridge, but also because it would keep it original. If in the future you ever look to sell it, you'll be better off with the original parts.

Hope this helps,
-Bill

Thanks for the response. Hm, yeah, if there aren't any obvious advantages to a newer model, I'll probably look into getting the original. I appreciate the input!!

Cheers,
