I recently purchased a Ibanez AW60CE acoustic guitar, and the electronic doesn't work, I took the bridge off, apparently the piezo pickup was fell inside the body, but there's a small piece of plastic underneath, I have no idea it was there all along or placed there afterward?
Question:
1: Do I need to put the plastic strip under, over, the pick-up?
2: The plastic strip is thicker in one end, which side is which?

Thanks!!!!

Welcome to the Forum,

The piece of plastic is a shim; its there to put the strings at the right height, so that you don't have any string buzz. You can put it under the Saddle with the pickup on top and then the Saddle on top of the pickup. If the shim is too long to place under the Saddle, then set the pickup in first then the shim and then the saddle.

As to it being thicker on one side than the other you'll have to try it to see what works best, but I would try putting the thicker part under the bass strings first. If you don't get any string buzz on any strings and its comfortable to play you're good to go. If you have problems then try putting it the thicker part under the treble strings.

Well I hope that helps. Let us know what you end up doing.
