Beautiful SZ's all. I just posted in a separate thread that I sold my SZ to my nephew and just bought a new ART700...big mistake in my opinion. I'm trying to get my SZ back, but, so far no such luck. Wondering about getting rid of the EMG's and going with humbuckers...would it work with the body of the ART?

Thanks for any insight anyone can offer.

My SZ520FM. Got it like 5mth ago, my dealer here was clearing old stuff, apparently, there were some discontinued guitars lying around (not just Ibanez), this was one of them.

I did away with the default humbuckers, BKP's Warpigs are in there now.

Sorry for the subpar picture, but here's the latest incarnation of my SZ320:

Some new tuners in it!

Mods from top to bottom:

Grover tuners. (after trying a bunch of other tuning heads, these turned out to be the best)
Graphtech Black TUSQ XL nut.
EMG 81TW/60 pickups with 18v mod.
EMG solderless electronics.
Allparts black pickup rings.
Allparts Gibson-style 3-way toggle.

Setup in Drop C with D'Addario 11-56 strings.

:)

Over the moon with it. Something different and works extremly well. Very comfortable for palm muting, easily adjustable and changes the look of the guitar. Releived it fits as a direct replacement. Couldn't use the Gotoh post studs but the Gotoh posts fit directly into the already mounted Ibz studs. Giddy up!! Happy days!!!!

Thanks! Sometime this week the pickups will be swapped for an EVH Frankenstein bridge and a SD Alnico II(Slash) neck pickups. The Dimarzios in there now are going to be relocated to my RG520QS. Dance

these are well made although some of the hardware is less than impressive. Give for example, the Gibraltar Custom bridge. Those hex bolts get worn so easily! And when you try and replace them, they cost a fortune! $250 USD! thats a third of the cost of an Ibanez ICT700 which has the same bridge! WTF!

@Stabby: thanks a lot. It was a great idea replacing the gibraltar bridge. I like it. It is like playing a different guitar (the right hand feels very confortable while playing plammutes. It is much better then i had expected). As known, Sound is dificult to discribe... I would say it has less substain but also more freshness. Overall both bridges are purely a matter of taste. So i think that i wont replace the gotoh bridge with the old gibraltar back again. Imho the gotoh bridge looks better :)

and if a string rips close to the tuners, you can use it again if you theard it in the brigde instead the body xD the string is still long enough.

Edit: yesterday, i played the guitar the first time with the new bridge on a Thomas Huber Amp (it was an engl blackmore) with a standard engl box. Just AWESOME (much better then when i had used the gibraltar)
