Hi, long time reader, first time poster.

I recently acquired a GSR205 bass, It has two volume pots, a tone pot, plus an active bass boost. I find it generally pleasing to play, except on certain amps I get high levels of noise. Also, I get a very high noise floor with the bass boost up, but only when either volume knob is turned up. If they are both up full, I get no noise.

From other reading on the forum, it would seem that shielding the cavity is recommended, as is beefing up the earth connection to the bridge (?)

QUESTION: If I wanted to change the controls to a BRIDGE-NECK BALANCE, a MASTER VOLUME POT, a TONE POT, and the existing BASS BOOST what schematic should I follow?

The electronics seem very roughly wired, so I wouldn't mind re-doing it anyway. My current factory wiring does not seem to be in line with any of the diagrams on the ibanez site, It looks like this...

Thanks for your time, I have found this forum to be a great resource.

Just spotted this post - hope you're still around to see this reply.

If your axe is not wired as the factory schematic is wired, I'd TRY putting things back the way that they are SUPPOSED to be - before you take the next step. Test the GSR205 as it should be wired and you may see quite a difference in tonality and performance.

I have tested a couple GSR205's in the past couple of years with GHS Premium M3050 long scale flatwound strings and the original factory electronics are fully adjustable for anything that you may encounter.

Try that FIRST and if you can't get the sound that you are after, then spend the cash for all new electronics and pickups and start from scratch. A possible place for you to start would be (sorry, Ibanez) A Fender active pickup Deluxe Precision Bass Special setup.
