Hi all,

I'm getting rid of the Gibralter 3 bridge! It's just extreemly corroded and would like a change.

I have found some wraparound bridges with the correct stud and string spacing that "should" fit. I still want to use the string through and think either of these bridges could do the job. After alot of research these are really my only options.

Anyone tried these bridges before? There is nowhere here in Australia where I can look at one in the flesh and see if it will really work but I am prepared to buy one online just to find out, I can get one for $30 so not really an expensive excercise. But if anyone has tried it and failed that would save me some time.

Any info would be great, thanks!

Don't have any experience with the wrap-around-bridges.
But my SZ Bridge gave me a bit of trouble when I strung her up with the Zakk Wylde Sig Dunlop strings (10 to 60)

I was thinking of replacing my Bridge with the Full Contact Bridge.
What I like about the FC's Tune-O-Matic bridge is the fact that you can adjust each single saddle's height.
Very similar to the bridge on Ibanez' Darkstone DN500 and the ART 700.

Best of luck though

Thanks bl@kOut,

The full contact brige sounds interesting, looks great as well. May be another option if the wraparound doesn't work....

Well after more research, I've just ordered a Gotoh 510 wraparound for it. Plus some new string ferrules as the strings are starting to eat into the body between bridge and ferrules.

Will arrive in a few weeks so will post some pics when it's all on.......if it works?!?!?!??!

Is that the Babicz bridge you're refering to?

All done!

Fit perfectly!

For set-up I took it to Alan Rigg in Sydney. He did a full fret shave, hone and polish as well as replacing the pots with CTS ones as mine were a starting to crackle and cut out occasionally. Did a great job and the guitar now feels like new.

The bridge is a really good design. Although it is meant to be used as a wraparound it works even better as a string through. And feels great to play, very comfortable.

Yeah, just love the look of it.

As for Stabby,
That wrap around bridge came out awesome.
I cannot believe how snugg it is with the bridge pick up.

Yepo, am really chuffed as to how it turned out.

Had the raise the action back up, bit too low for me. Which is good cause now I have adjustment either way. Happy days!!!

Now time will tell how it lasts. As you can se by the pickup ring screws I'm a sweaty player, and just hope that with care this new bridge it won't corrode as much as the GB3.

Got the new string ferrules but it's a complete bitch to get the originals out. So without the chance af ruining the guitar finish am goin to keep the original ones in. A little dissapointing as with these and some new knobs, my 6 y/o baby would look brand new. Anyway, time to get back to playin.....

ROCK ON \m/,

It doesn't seem like the Babicz would be a direct replacement for the Gibraltar without modifying the guitar, tho, but yeah, they do look pretty.

Why wouldn't the Babicz work?

It's coz of the stud spacing.

The GB3 and Gotoh 510 wraparound bridge studs are 82mm or 3.22inches apart. The specs say the studs on the Babicz bridge are 74mm or 2.91inches apart. You'd have to remove the original studs, fill the holes and redrill if you wanted the Babicz to fit. Which would kill the sound and potentially ruin the finish.

Thats why I went down the wraparound path. There quite a few out there with the right stud spacing, as long as you can make it work as a string through, they're the only ones that'll fit. I'd love to be proved wrong though!

Thanks for the clarification, my bad.
I never read up on the studs spacing. All ways thought they were the same width.
