Hi there,
The problem that you have, is common on the models with the so called "Flat" finishes.
I had a SR505, and a SR605, both with the ultra thin Flat finishes.
It`s almost impossible to NOT ding, scratch, or chip some part of the body when playing.
The finishes of these instruments are very thin and fragile.
Especially popping and slapping will leave marks on your bass, I had it too.
I hated this, that`s why I sold them both.
Some people don`t care about this, they think it`s cooler looking.
Repairing it means when you want to solve the problem; re finishing by a luthier with a stronger and thicker poly finish. this will cost you some serious amount of money...
I nowadays only play on Ibby Soundgear 80`s basses with the original good old thick gloss finishes, those can take normal playing and will furthermore age gracefully :-)
