Hi,
I have shortish fingers and a back that just didn't go well with a used 6-string BTB-676 I tried out at GC. Way too wide a neck for me and too heavy. I was told to try the BTB by another player raving about the rich even tone. I have to agree with him.
My question is how can I get a small fast neck and light body I'm used to with my SR500 but with the tone I heard from the BTB-676? Do I need the Through neck and/or chunky wood of the BTB or just the MK-2 pickups? I'm after a 5 string in the SR dimensions with the sound of the BTB...
Ideas for modifying or custom building are wanted if that is best option. I've not been able to find a SRT local, but figure the 2mm thicker neck wouldn't be fun for my short sausage fingers like the wider neck of the BTB wasn't workable for me. Also, I'm playing lots of cover stuff and really want an even response/tone the Bart MK2 seem to throw out.
BTW, I saw what looked like satin nickle hardware on the tuners, not the black that currently shows up on the IB website. What's the scoop with that? the satin nickle with maple is great combo.
Thanks--RR
