I bought an Ibanez out in LA 7 or 8 years ago. It just has "s" series on the headstock. 2 single coils in front, one humbucker on bridge side. Kind of a tiger stripe flame top. How can I know what model it is? I looked on Ebay and there were several possibilities, but the sa260 looked most like it? any idea what they are worth now? I know from the serial number it is a Korean model built it 2001.

There were no SA260's produced in 2001. There were SA160's produced back then though. The SA160 does look a lot like the SA260. The SA160 does not have binding around the body, the SA260 does. The hardware and pickups are different as well. The pic below is a link to the catalog page from 2001 that has SA's on it.

Hey guys, I looked at the pics Tracy posted (thank you Tracy) and it definitely looks just like the SA160Qmam floating in the pic on the left side. I love the guitar, but when I use the whammy the G string goes sharp and won't come back. I tried filing down the nut a little and lubricating it, but it's just not happening. Unless I use the whammy it stays in tune perfectly. However, some songs require me to use a whammy. Can an Edge tremelo be installed on these relatively simple? I also have an 85 RG 550, with a locking nut, but I like the two single coils with the humbucker so I can get both fat, rockin tones as well as the single coil strat sounds. Ideas? Any other models other than the Andy Timmons version have that single, single, humbucker configuration?

Hi Randy,

Installing a locking system on a guitar that didn't come with a locking system is not an easy thing to do. There can be routing and reworking of wood needed to make it fit and function properly. It's not a direct swap kind of thing.

If we can assume your machine heads are in good condition and the tension is adjusted properly, I would recommend having a GraphTech TusQ XL self lubricating nut professionally installed.
