Found an Ibanez Stagestar in Pretty rough condition and grabbed it for 50 Bucks. In all actuality, the body of the Stagestar is what I would make the Strat into if I could make a custom Strat.

The Stagestar (And Correct me if I am wrong) was only sold as a beginner Strat copy in 1997. Like a starcaster I guess. So I have one and someone at Ibanez made a mistake by allowing such good hardware on such a "Starter" guitar. The maple neck is great. I love it... It feels like a 600$ Strat neck.

As an Ibanez fan, I always wanted a Strat style Ibanez which is why I got this. Here is a shot after I cleaned all of the dirt and dust off:

I suspect they changed it due to the terrible name "Stagestar"... You will get no guitarist respect playing a guitar with that name.

I want to take this cheap, 15 year old, starter guitar and make it into a Medium to good guitar... I love teh body style and the neck is amazing. The name has to go.

Here is my plan:

Plan

Suggestions?

Absolutely... I love this guitar... and I have been building guitar kits and am hoping that I am at the point where I can take a mediocre guitar and make it into a really nice one. The Body is good, the Neck is great, the Pickups sound very good and the hardware is somewhat cheap.

If I get this right, I may have a neat Mod. A true original Ibanez Strat Style.

You must take pictures with every step of your modification/customization of this Stagestar. Such great projects are always fun to watch (I know I enjoy them) and if you run into some problems we might be able to help you out with advise. So its a win-win for all (IMO)

Hi, I just bought one of those Ibanez Stagestar 1996 model. I play mostly country and rock Waylon, Willie, Beatles, Rolling Stones, etc. And I am playing through a Fender G-DEC 15 on stage at our small venue, and also a Fender G-DEC 30 for larger places. So far, I am happy, happy, happy. By the way the work you did really shines out; it looks great. Does anyone have a place for a manual for this particular model? Thanks.Happy
