Just curious - For all you AS73 owners out there: What does your AS73 weigh? My '09 weighs in at a light 7.18 lbs.

I just recently got this one, and I was surprised at the relatively light weight of it. But it's really comfortable.

Is just over 7 lbs about average for these, though?

Thanks, Art. Looks like my AS73 is about average then. Or possibly a little lighter than average.

I would say your AS73 is a LOT lighter than average. Most semi-hollow 335 type guitars weigh in around 9 lbs. I have strats that are 7 lbs. My Epiphone Casino is 6lbs 2oz..... But that's a full hollow body. No center block.

7.18 lbs? That's lighter than any semi-hollow, approximately 7 lbs 3oz!

Your shoulder must be thanking you.

Sweetwater has a good amount of these listed right now, so you can compare the weights of each. It does look like yours falls a little bit lower than the others:

The 4 Tobacco Brown ones they have right now are 7+8oz, 7+10oz, 7+11oz, 7+10oz.

Well, that's good to know - that it's a lot lighter than average.. I do love the light weight of this AS73 - and yep, it's very comfy on the shoulder!

Glad I "accidentally" got a lighter one - as I bought it off Craigslist.

Thanks for the info, Bill. As I mentioned, I'm happy I got this lighter one. It's very comfortable, that's for sure.

Hi Telechamp,

I have a 2005 AS73 in Sunburst finish and it weighs 7.1 lbs, just like yours, so looks like nothing was changed between the 05s and the 09s.

Interesting in that both of ours weigh about the same, RIX. And looks like you're right in that nothing was changed between 2005 and 2009..

Hmm . . . that's almost 1-1/2 lbs. lighter than Artcore's AS93 at 7lb. 13oz. 93's have only been made since '07 I think, so what would account for such a large difference? I'll be taking delivery on a '15 93 soon so will "weigh in" on this "weighty" topic soon on mine.

So I got my AS93 last week, and finally got around to weighing it - 7lbs. 13oz. - same as Artcore's.
1 user thanked Gasser57 for this useful post.

Still digging my '07 AS73, but I am now "kinda" thinking I might want to swap out the stock pups..

Don't get me wrong, I think the stockers do sound very good, but I just feel that with a pickup upgrade, this guitar could be fantastic.

What is a good pickup upgrade for the AS73?..

The pickups you choose completely depend upon the kind of guitar sound you have in your "mind's ear" and the kind of music you play.

So, a bluesy jazzy sounding pickup may not work for classic rock and roll - in YOUR opinion. Similarly, if you select a pickup that the metal players like, it may not serve you well in your Chet Atkins-style finger picking tunes - again, we're talking about YOUR opinion - so you may actually like metal pickups for finger-style guitar. . . that is okay if you do. There are no rules - for any rule you someone tells you, there will be an exception - some crazy good player that breaks the rule and sounds fantastic doing it.

But perhaps you can provide a little more information about your taste and style preferences. Then folks may be able to point you in a general direction.
