I picked up a 2016 Ibanez Artstar Vintage AMV100DG plays like butter but the Super 58 custom are bright especially the bridge has very ice pick sound (brighter than my tele) Are these pickups normally bright?

No, none of the various Ibanez Super 58's are or should be all that bright. About the same as Gibson or similar humbucker pickups. Maybe if the guitar is very old, some of the wiring is oxidized. In my very old guitar, one of the humbuckers, bridge, has something wrong with it, sound bright and thin, more like a single coil or humbucker out of phase ...

I have some that are ICE PICK bright. Don't care that much for them. I am in the minority and prefer the standard ACH Artcore pickups. I have an AS103BM,AS153,AK105,AF125NT,AM103 and a AM83LTD with those pickups. In some of the guitars the pickups are tolerable but in the AM103 and AM83 they are painfully bright.I wonder what amps people that like them use. They must be a dark sounding amp to begin with.

Just my 2c.

I have a 1983 AR1500 CUSTOM with original pups. The sound is nor "bright" in a horrible way compared to my 2000 LP Standard. The LP is definitely "thicker" sounding (cab dependent) than the AR. But the AR has a "clarity" to its sound that is unique IMO. The AR would have custom 58's in it BTW. Also changing these to say..Seth Lover's is not really good, because the string spacing is different and the AR (vintage) has 3-screw mounting for pups, as apposed to 2-screw mounting.

That is a very good description of the AR sound. The "clarity" of it is due to the (3-piece) maple neck. The Les Paul, or SG, will sound different because they have a one piece mahogany neck. I have played a lot of AR's in my life, also many Les Pauls. Different instrument.
