I have a 97 SR400 bass. I removed the backplate to clean the pots and discovered a yellow wire that was loose. It's apparently a ground wire because it has the metal loop on one end that fits around the screws holding the backplate in place. The other end is stripped of insulation but I cannot find where it attaches. Any ideas? Thanks!

If it is indeed a ground wire, which it sounds like it is, then any internal ground point will do. Back of a pot, ground connection on the jack (if it is active, make sure not to confuse it with the battery negative), etc.
